recently, BYD energy storage and Spanish clean energy leader Grenergy have reached a new strategic cooperation to provide 468 sets of MC Cube-T energy storage systems for the oasis light storage project in central Chile, with a total capacity of 2.6GWh, which will be applied to four light storage power stations: Gran Teno, Tamango, Planchón and Monte Águila.

This is also another benchmarking new energy project jointly built by the two sides after reaching 3.5GWh cooperation on Latin America's largest energy storage project in May 2025. At present, 168 energy storage cabinets supplied by BYD Energy Storage for Gran Teno Optical Storage Power Station have been loaded in Shenzhen and are expected to arrive at the project site in mid-April. The remaining equipment is being shipped in an orderly manner as planned. The power station is expected to be connected to the grid in the second quarter of this year.
the oasis light storage project in central Chile has a total installed photovoltaic capacity of 1.1GW and an energy storage capacity of 4GWh, with an estimated total investment of 0.9 billion us dollars. it is planned to be fully put into operation from 2026 to 2027, aiming to replicate the mature light storage integration mode of the atacama oasis project and provide a stable and clean power supply for central Chile. David Ruiz de Andrés, CEO
Grenergy, said: "We are proud to be alongside BYD Energy Storage, a world-class partner at a critical stage in the global energy transition. The technical strength and product quality of BYD energy storage are important supports for us to upgrade our energy network. From the Atacama Oasis project in northern Chile to the current expansion to the Central Oasis project, we are steadily advancing the global layout of the 'Oasis Model. In the future, we will continue to rely on the advantages of cooperation between the two sides to extend this mature optical storage integration model to more markets in Spain and even around the world, and jointly build a more flexible, efficient and sustainable new energy system."
Yin Xueqin, general manager of BYD's energy storage and new battery division, said: "It is a great honor to continue to deepen cooperation with Grenergy and jointly promote the two benchmark projects of Atacama Oasis and Central Oasis. Since BYD put forward the 'three green dreams', it has always been deeply engaged in the research and development and application of energy storage technology, and is committed to contributing Chinese solutions to the global energy transformation. In this cooperation, we will use our leading energy storage technology and full-chain services to ensure the smooth landing of the Central Oasis project and inject strong impetus into the development of clean energy in Chile and even Latin America. Thank Grenergy for their long-term trust and support, and look forward to the future of the two sides to continue to work together to create more models of cooperation in the field of global renewable energy and build a bright future of green and low carbon."
After 18 years of accumulation, BYD Energy Storage has built a global sales, delivery, operation and maintenance and after-sales service system. As of 2025, the cumulative shipments of energy storage systems have exceeded 135GWh, and more than 650 energy storage projects have been successfully implemented, with operations in more than 110 countries and regions around the world. This cooperation further consolidates BYD's leading edge in the Latin American energy storage market, empowers the global new energy transformation and upgrading with hard core technology, and helps build a green and sustainable global energy ecology.
