the reporter learned from Kunming electric power trading center co., ltd. on the 24th that on the same day, the 1 million-kilowatt photovoltaic project of the first phase of the clean energy base in northern Laos, a key project of China-Laos power interconnection, successfully completed the registration of the Yunnan power market, marking a breakthrough in the construction of the common power market in the Lancang-Mekong region.
The project is located in Oudomsai province in northern Laos and invested by China General Nuclear Power Group. It is the first large-scale photovoltaic project in Laos. The project will be officially opened at the end of 2025 and is expected to generate about 1.7 billion kWh of electricity per year. As an important supporting power source for the China-Laos power interconnection 500 kV line, the clean power produced by the project will be sent to Yunnan through the China-Laos 500 kV interconnection project to help Yunnan's energy transformation and power supply.
The project has completed the registration of Yunnan power market and ensured the conditions for participating in the medium-and long-term power trading in April, which not only lays the foundation for cross-border power trading, but also creates a new mode for overseas power sources to participate in China's power market, which is a milestone in deepening green energy and power cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong region.
