Absence of human rights in climate transition plan

Comment | According to the World Benchmarking Alliance, only 5% of companies are able to incorporate employee and community impact into their climate transformation plans in a substantial way. At present, the net zero transformation plan is heating up rapidly in the government and industry. However, the road map to a low-carbon future is unsustainable if the human rights risks inherent in green energy supply chains are not properly managed. While governments and large companies are increasingly committed to developing net zero transformation plans, few companies have developed specific human rights transformation plans for the materials needed to achieve net zero. The World Benchmark Alliance data confirms that only 5% of companies are truly integrating the impact of employee and community rights into their climate transformation plans.
