Shanghai Electric won a major green hydrogen equipment orders, to help the world's first "green hydrogen coal chemical" project landing implementation.

on March 16, Shanghai electric power station group and inner Mongolia baofeng coal-based new materials co., ltd. formally signed an agreement to provide core green hydrogen equipment and customized solutions for the water electrolysis hydrogen production link of the latter phase I wind and wind hydrogen production project. The move marks a major breakthrough in the field of large-scale green hydrogen equipment, and also sets a model for the low-carbon transformation of the global coal chemical industry.

according to the agreement, Shanghai electric will provide 8 1250 nm/h alkaline electrolyzers and the world's largest single-unit capacity 5000 nm/h separation and purification system, and adopt the industry's first outdoor three-dimensional layout scheme to meet the large-scale hydrogen production demand of the project and help build the world's leading "green hydrogen + coal chemical industry" integrated demonstration project. The project is the world's largest single plant "green hydrogen + coal to olefins" coupling demonstration project. After the completion of the project, the green hydrogen generated by the scenery will be used to replace the gray hydrogen derived from coal, thereby reducing the coal chemical industry's dependence on fossil energy and reducing carbon emissions. At the same time, the project will also provide replicable solutions for the large-scale consumption of wind power and photovoltaic power, and promote the coordinated low-carbon transformation of the energy and chemical industries.

**Leading by core technologies, breaking through industry bottlenecks**

The project selects a new generation of "Z" series alkaline electrolyzers independently developed by Shanghai Electric, which has the core advantages of low energy consumption, high current density, wide load range and fast response, and is very suitable for the application scenario of wind and solar power generation output fluctuation. After technical optimization, the DC power consumption of the equipment is only 4.17 kWh/Nm at a current density of 4000 A/m, with a wide load adaptability of 20%-120 and a fast response capability of ≥ 5%/s. This breaks through the technical bottleneck of traditional hydrogen production equipment and solves the coupling problem of green electricity-based hydrogen production system.

**Innovative layout design for efficiency and safety**

The project adopts the industry's first outdoor three-dimensional layout scheme. Compared with the traditional indoor layout, the scheme significantly reduces the land occupation, reduces the civil construction cost, and enhances the operation safety through natural ventilation, and realizes the double improvement of economic benefit and safety benefit. The world's largest 5000 Nm/h separation and purification system overcomes the challenge of gas-liquid equilibrium and pressure coordination under sudden large load changes, ensures hydrogen purity and separation efficiency under complex working conditions, and further consolidates Shanghai Electric's leading position in the field of large-scale hydrogen production systems.
