The first unit of Hebei Yixian Pumped Storage Power Station passed the examination and trial operation.

on December 31, 2025, unit 1 of the state grid Xinyuan Hebei yixian pumped storage power station surveyed and designed by the Beijing institute successfully completed the 15-day examination and trial operation, and the first unit will soon be transferred to the commercial operation stage.

The project passed the pre-feasibility study review in August 2014, passed the feasibility study review in October 2017, and was approved by the Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission in December of the same year. The construction was officially started in November 2019, the main project was started in June 2021, the lower reservoir was damped in March 2025, the 500 kV reverse power transmission test was completed in August 2025, and the No. 1 unit entered the 15-day test run on December 16 of the same year.

since the start of construction, Beijing institute has cooperated with all parties involved in the construction to insist on ensuring technical services, optimizing design schemes and overcoming project problems. From the hydraulic efficiency, ecological and environmental protection, maintenance and maintenance, equipment health and other dimensions for the project construction advice and suggestions, go all out to do a good job in the design work to ensure the orderly progress of the project.

As a key project of the national "14th Five-Year Plan", the power station is equipped with four vertical shaft single-stage reversible pump-turbine units with a single unit capacity of 300 MW, with a total installed capacity of 1200 MW, it is connected to the southern Hebei power grid with a 500 kV line, which is responsible for peak shaving, valley filling, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency backup. The annual power generation of the power station is 1.807 billion kWh, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 213000 tons per year. After it is put into operation, it will help the Taihang Mountain area to eliminate new energy, provide surging clean power for the economic development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
