At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, under the "double carbon" goal, a large number of clean energy projects were completed and put into operation, which further consolidated the foundation for ensuring energy supply during the peak winter and injected "green" momentum into stable economic growth.
National Energy Administration data show that as of the end of November 2025, the country's cumulative installed power generation capacity of 3.79 billion kilowatts, an increase of 17.1. Among them, the installed capacity of solar power generation was 1.16 billion kilowatts, an increase of 41.9 percent over the same period last year; the installed capacity of wind power was 0.6 billion kilowatts, an increase of 22.4 percent over the same period last year; the installed capacity of hydropower was 0.44 billion kilowatts, an increase of 3 percent over the same period last year; and the installed capacity of nuclear power was 0.06 billion kilowatts, an increase of 7.6 percent over the same period last year.

the first phase of Zhangzhou nuclear power project was completed and put into operation. Figure provided by respondents
Nuclear power projects are progressing steadily. On January 1, 2026, Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Unit 2, controlled by China Nuclear Power Investment, a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation, was put into commercial operation, and the first phase of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Project was fully completed and put into operation. As the world's largest "Hualong No. 1" nuclear power base, the base plans to build 6 "Hualong No. 1" nuclear power units, which is expected to provide about 60 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year.
New energy storage accelerated construction. On December 31, 2025, China's largest all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage power station-Three Gorges Group Xinjiang Jimusar all-vanadium redox flow energy storage power station to achieve full capacity operation. The energy storage scale of the project is 1 million kWh, and it is expected to increase the utilization rate of the project's supporting photovoltaic power station by more than 10% every year, with a maximum increase of more than 0.23 billion kWh of clean electricity.
Solar power continues to grow. On December 30, 2025, my country's first sandy flexible support photovoltaic project-Huaneng Suji Sandy 2 million-kilowatt photovoltaic project will be fully connected to the grid for power generation, with a total installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts and an annual power generation capacity of 2.96 billion kilowatt hours. Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2.68 million tons; on December 26, 2025, my country's first million-kilowatt offshore photovoltaic project-National Energy Group Guohua invested in Shandong Dongying Kenli 1 million-kW offshore photovoltaic project for full-capacity grid-connected power generation, it is estimated that the annual power generation can reach 1.78 billion kwh, which can meet 60% of the electricity demand of the whole society in Kenli District, where the project is located.
Hydropower projects to speed up construction. On December 27, 2025, units 4 and 3 of Yebatan Hydropower Station, the highest hyperbolic arch dam under construction in China, were officially put into operation for power generation. After the full capacity of the project is put into operation, the average annual power generation exceeds 10.2 billion kWh, which can save about 3.1 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 8.3 million tons.
Behind the growth of clean energy installed capacity is the rapid growth of investment. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to November 2025, investment in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water will increase by 10.7, driving an increase in total investment by 0.8 percentage points; among them, solar power, wind power, nuclear power, and hydropower The total investment in power generation increased by 7.4.
the recently held 2026 national energy work conference pointed out that in 2025, energy investment will grow strongly to green and new, new energy will achieve higher quality leap-forward development, major hydropower and nuclear power projects will be accelerated, new power system construction will be steadily advanced, and new steps will be taken in clean and efficient utilization of fossil energy.
Li Chao, deputy director and spokesman of the Policy Research Office of the National Development and Reform Commission, said at a news conference of the National Development and Reform Commission a few days ago that a number of major infrastructure projects have been approved or approved recently, including energy facilities such as the Zhejiang UHV exchange ring network project and the Danba Hydropower Station on the Dadu River in Sichuan, with a total investment of more than 400 billion yuan, which will further improve China's modern infrastructure system.
"The rapid growth of investment in clean energy is of great significance to the steady economic growth." Sun Chuanwang, a professor at the China Energy Economic Research Center of Xiamen University, said that this will help to further leverage the advantages of my country's ultra-large-scale market, release the economies of scale of clean energy, and accelerate the formation of new driving forces for economic growth with sustainable competitiveness; it is conducive to radiating infrastructure, Energy conservation and environmental protection and other related industries investment effectively stimulate economic growth; help coordinate energy security and supply and green and low-carbon transformation, and improve the quality and efficiency of economic development, boost China's economic stability and far.
