The energy storage power station project in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province has successfully been connected to the grid and is now in operation.

On December 30, the 110 MW/220 MWh energy storage power station project in the Youmei Economic Development Zone of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, was successfully connected to the grid and began operation. As a grid-interactive, stand-alone energy storage project designed to provide system reliability, this plant integrates grid regulation, renewable energy accommodation, and participation in the electricity spot market. It serves as a critical enabler for stable regional power system operation and the development of a new-type power system, while also signaling that the application value and growth potential of stand-alone energy storage in Jiangsu Province continue to expand.

The project covers an area of approximately 48 mu and is planned to construct an electrochemical energy storage power station. In response to the project’s construction requirements, Far East Energy Storage has provided a comprehensive energy storage system solution, encompassing battery containerized units, integrated inverter-step-up transformers, an intelligent EMS energy management system, and配套 Far East Cables, thereby achieving seamless, all-in-one integration of the energy storage system. The energy storage system is connected to the grid at the AC side via a 35kV interface and integrates into the 110kV energy storage power station through four 35kV collector lines. The comprehensive solution features a high degree of integration and convenient installation and maintenance, laying a solid foundation for the efficient construction and stable operation of the power station.

The project utilizes Far East Energy’s liquid-cooled PowerSTROM 5000 energy storage container, which offers a standard capacity of 5.016 MWh. It features high energy density, high efficiency, robust stability, and flexible configuration options. The single cabinet features a 20-foot, single-side-door design and supports a multi-level fire protection architecture along with an integrated interlock safety system. An intelligent temperature-control system can effectively manage temperature and temperature differentials, thereby enhancing system efficiency and extending its service life. While ensuring safety, it also reduces long-term operating costs, providing enterprises with stable and reliable energy support as they transition to green energy.

Upon commissioning, the project will provide a range of diversified services to the regional power grid, including peak-shaving and frequency regulation, spot electricity trading, capacity leasing for new energy generation facilities, and energy storage-based power supply and sales for industrial and commercial users within the development zone. These services will effectively alleviate the operational pressures on the grid caused by the intermittency and volatility of renewable energy generation, continuously enhance the power system’s safety, stability, and flexibility, and deliver robust power supply support for the high-quality economic and social development of the development zone. Against the backdrop of continuously expanding new energy generation capacity and the ongoing refinement of power market mechanisms, the market is placing increasingly stringent demands on energy storage systems in terms of safety, reliability, and their ability to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure. Looking ahead, Far East Energy Storage will take this project as a practical foundation to continuously optimize product performance and system solutions in response to the grid characteristics and application requirements of different regions. By delivering more reliable and deployable energy storage capabilities, the company will support the development of a new-generation power system.
