Building a Grid Stabilizer to Promote New Energy Development
The project is located in Hongsibao District, Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It has a total capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh and is connected to the grid via the Lujiayao 330kV substation. As a key piece of infrastructure for enhancing grid peak-shaving reserve capacity and facilitating the integration of new energy sources, the power station is expected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 75,000 tonnes. It represents a substantive step toward implementing China’s “dual carbon” strategy. Upon completion, the project will hold dual strategic significance for the Ningxia power grid and the broader regional energy landscape. On the grid side, the project can precisely respond to grid dispatch commands and rapidly switch between charging and discharging, providing robust peak-shaving and reserve capacity to the power system. This directly enhances the operational stability and disturbance-resistance capability of the Ningxia power grid. On the renewable-energy side, the project effectively smooths out the intermittency and variability of photovoltaic and wind power generation, significantly reducing curtailed wind and solar output and increasing the reliable integration rate of clean energy into the grid.

The first “invest-build-operate” project ushers in a new era of operations
Grid connection is the foundation, but intelligent operations are the key to unlocking the long-term value of energy storage assets. This project will leverage CaiRi Energy’s advanced digital and intelligent energy operations platform to transform the system from a conventional equipment cluster into a smart energy system with autonomous analytics and revenue-generating capabilities. The CaiRi Energy Intelligent Operations Platform is a digital energy storage management system that integrates safety management and intelligent operations. Leveraging technologies such as visual diagnostics, safety alerts, life-cycle prediction, and digital intelligent cloud-based O&M, the platform monitors battery health in real time, provides precise risk warnings, extends system lifespan, and ensures the safe and stable operation of energy storage power stations. At the operational level, the platform integrates self-developed AI models with big data analytics to support intelligent trading decisions in both mid- and long-term and spot electricity markets. It enables electricity price forecasting, strategy optimization, and post-trade performance reviews, thereby maximizing the returns on energy storage assets.
From Building to Optimizing: Safeguarding the “Last Mile” of Energy Storage
The successful grid connection of the project marks a new phase in energy storage power stations, shifting focus from hardware construction to software-driven empowerment. Looking ahead, CaiRi Energy will leverage full-lifecycle operations and services to transform power plants into a digital, intelligent bridge that connects a zero-carbon future with stable, reliable returns. This will truly enable a seamless transition from “building well” to “operating well,” setting an industry benchmark for safeguarding the long-term value of energy storage assets.
