Recently, according to data from the Energy Administration of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,
while existing projects are operating steadily and continuously contributing to output, Inner Mongolia’s pipeline of green hydrogen projects is also expanding at an accelerated pace. Statistics show that by 2025, Inner Mongolia will have more than 40 newly registered large-scale green hydrogen projects across the region, with a total investment exceeding RMB 100 billion. The investors include numerous central state-owned enterprises and leading new-energy companies, such as CSSC, China Huadian, State Energy Group, CRRC, Shenzhen Energy, and Goldwind. Notably, several projects have investment scales exceeding RMB 10 billion, and the planned production capacities of downstream products such as green ammonia and green methanol have also entered the “million-ton” range.
The following are several representative projects that have been filed for record in 2025:
In August 2025, the Guohua Wulate Zhongqi Wind-to-Hydrogen–to-Ammonia Integrated Project (hydrogen–ammonia production component) completed its filing, with a total investment of RMB 13.1 billion and a planned annual output of 1.35 million tonnes of green ammonia. On September 23, the Goldwind Technology Wulate Zhongqi Wind–Solar–Hydrogen Integrated Project (hydrogen–ammonia–methanol production component) received approval, with a total investment of RMB 9.6 billion. It will develop 600,000 tonnes per year of methanol capacity and 400,000 tonnes per year of synthetic ammonia capacity. On December 22, the CRRC Xing’an League Zhalate Banner 2-million-kilowatt Wind-to-Hydrogen Integrated Project (hydrogen production component) was filed. This project marks CRRC Group’s first green hydrogen initiative and is slated to produce 80,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
