CATL’s Guizhou Phase II Base Breaks Ground, Adding 30GWh of Capacity to Strengthen Its Energy Storage Footprint
Recently, CATL entered into a cooperation agreement with relevant parties in Guizhou Province, announcing that it will invest in the construction of a Phase II project building upon the already operational Phase I facility at CATL’s New Energy Power and Energy Storage Battery Manufacturing Base in Guizhou. According to the project plan outlined in the agreement, the Phase II project of CATL’s Guizhou base will cover approximately 550 acres and will establish a production line with an annual capacity of 30GWh for power and energy storage batteries. Building on the stable operation of Phase I, the construction of Phase II will fully leverage the existing industrial chain infrastructure, technical expertise, and manufacturing experience to ensure rapid project implementation and commissioning. As a global leader in the power battery and energy storage sectors, CATL’s latest capacity expansion carries multiple strategic implications. From a regional perspective, Guizhou Province boasts abundant lithium, phosphate, and other mineral resources, coupled with a favorable policy environment for the new energy industry. The implementation of Phase II of the project will further strengthen synergy between CATL and local resources, thereby enhancing and completing the new energy industrial chain in the southwestern region. As the global penetration rate of new energy vehicles increases and the energy storage industry experiences explosive growth, demand for both power batteries and energy storage batteries continues to rise. The addition of 30GWh of production capacity will effectively alleviate CATL’s capacity constraints, enabling it to better fulfill orders from both domestic and international customers and further solidify its market-leading position.
