30 GWh! A new energy manufacturing project has been launched in Guizhou.

Gui’an New Area has officially signed an investment cooperation agreement with CATL for the Phase II project of the CATL (Guizhou) New Energy Power and Energy Storage Battery Production Manufacturing Base.

Under the cooperation agreement, CATL will, building on the first phase of its CATL (Guizhou) New Energy Power and Energy Storage Battery Production and Manufacturing Base that has already been completed and put into operation, invest in the construction of a second-phase project. The planned design calls for an annual production capacity of 30GWh of power and energy storage batteries, to be developed on approximately 550 mu of land. According to reports, the Phase I project of CATL’s (Guizhou) New Energy Power and Energy Storage Battery Production and Manufacturing Base was secured in November 2021 and completed and put into operation in October 2023. Built to “Lighthouse Zero-Carbon Factory” standards, the facility is equipped with highly automated production lines and has an annual capacity of 30 GWh.

The signing of the Phase II project marks a further deepening of CATL’s global footprint in the new energy industry and signals the company’s full-scale commitment to developing its operations in Guizhou. This move will inject stronger momentum into the province’s efforts to strengthen, extend, and complete the new energy value chain, while also supporting high-quality development of the Gui’an New Area.
