Special Coverage on InterSolar Europe 2022 by Solarbe

The Russia-Ukraine conflict and energy crisis have triggered a European quest to lower dependence on gas from Russia and faster deployment of renewable energy. At the Solar Power Summit 2022, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson said the European Commission is drafting a detailed plan to cut reliance on Russian gas, including by speeding up clean energy transition. EU Market Outlook for Solar Power 2021-2025 released by SolarPower Europe shows that, by the end of 2021, the EU’s solar power generation fleet reached 164.9 GW. Aristotelis Chantavas, President of the industry group said with the right policy support, the EU could top 1,000 GW by 2030. The accelerated growth of European market demand brings huge opportunities to Chinese solar companies. As the world's largest producer and exporter of PV products, China has been a major supplier of modules and other components for the European market. In 2021, Europe accounted for approximately 39% of total exports of PV products from China. Intersolar Europe 2022 to be held in Munich, Germany, on May 11, is one of the world’s top-notch exhibitions representing the solar industry. Every year, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service providers and project planners and developers from around the world meet in Munich to discuss the latest developments, explore innovations and meet potential new customers. As a media platform in the solar industry, we at Solarbe hope to bring this grand gathering to global audiences through the video programme Walk Through Intersolar Europe, so that audiences at home and broad can see the latest trends in Europe without leaving home. Prior to this, we have continuously reported many domestic and overseas exhibitions, including SNEC in Shanghai, The Solar Show in Vietnam, and Green Energy Expo in South Korea, etc. We also hope to use our bilingual media matrix to maximize the brand exposure for our valued partners. We would like to invite you to join us on this special programme. Together, let’s reach out to the wider world!

Europe Solar Market Development--Global Market Series
“Energy production has never been as strategic as it is today in securing Europe’s energy independence” according to Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for the Internal Market. The solar energy sector is symbolic of this issue: only 3% of all PV panels are manufactured in Europe though the European market is the second largest globally. Solar PV must also play its part in the energy transition towards a carbon-free economy. The target for 2030 is to increase the solar PV fraction from 3% to 15% of the total power production. New technologies are ready to replace the first solar PV generation and thus help expand its production ecosystem in Europe. We review the situation with Anis Jouini, Head of the Solar Technology Department at the CEA Institute for Solar Energy (INES).

Brazil Solar Market Development--Global Market Series
Solar photovoltaic electricity generation has been continuously gaining space in Brazil. As of February 2022, the installed generation capacity in the South American country surpassed 14 gigawatts, a more than 1,000-fold increase in comparison to 2013. That same month, solar accounted for more than half of planned capacity additions in Brazil.

Turkey Solar Market Development--Global Market Series
More than 1.5 million solar panels have been produced since 2019 at the Kalyon Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Technologies Factory, Turkey's first and among the world's leading integrated solar panel manufacturer. As a result, by connecting these panels to the solar power plant in central Konya’s Karapınar district, the country has avoided importing approximately $30 million worth of natural gas.

Chile Solar Market Development--Global Market Series
Both Chile and Germany are pioneers of renewable energy in their respective region of the world. Accordingly, both countries have set off for a socially sustainable carbon phase-out. Both countries are important energy producers, but still heavily rely on the import of fossil fuels on a large scale. Chile´s import quota for primary energy is around 70%. Just like Germany however, it has a steady increase of renewables in its energy production. One of Chile´s biggest assets for the future is its potential of over 1,800 GW in clean power.

MENA Solar Market Development--Global Market Series
Photovoltaic (PVs) are arrays of cells containing a solar photovoltaic material that converts solar radiation or energy from the sun into direct current electricity. Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels held a share of more than 93.57% of total middle east solar energy installed in 2020. The Solar PV installed capacity of the Middle-East has grown up to 6.520 GW in 2020, which is higher compared to 5.485 GW installed in 2019. Upcoming projects are expected to further increase the capacity in the forecast period.
